Kantbot’s Old New Television Project

Note from Ire Publications: The following is a piece found in Kantbot’s archives. As you’ll read, it details a show he worked on for television. I have redacted the script in case we decide to re-adapt it into something else, and for consideration of his privacy. I’m sharing this because I was as surprised to see this as you will be, and I think its fair to share. The text that ensues is authored by Kantbot.

“Those who have followed me know, I’m a busy man, I’m always dreaming up some new scheme, or launching some new project. Not all of these, unfortunately, ever come to fruition. Last year I was approached by a TV studio executive to produce a new show for them, this, I’m sorry to report, never made it air. In the course of pre-production I created a number of scripts and stories for use in possible episodes, and today I wanted to share one of those with you.

The series took place in 1773, and was premised around a provincial German university accidentally being transported into space, where it roams around the Galaxy trying to get home, while also exploring strange planets and astronomical (and astrological) phenomenon. Along the way the crew would pick up alien companions and integrate futuristic technology into university ship.

Needless to say, my vision was deemed too ‘bold,’ and even ‘frightening’ for the masses to comprehend. Production was terminated and the actors who had participated in the early table reads were all liquefied by the Studio to prevent knowledge of the project from getting out. A pilot was filmed, but presumably destroyed, along with all the scripts and conceptual materials in the studio’s possession. What follows is one of the few remaining stories I had written in order to pitch the show. Even then, it took months of litigation to secure the rights to publish it, as copyright disputes between myself and the network prevented me releasing my vision to the public.”
